By using the best and latest technology available, Scott and his staff are able to deliver a top quality product at significantly lower rates.  By headquartering in Las Vegas, The Thornton Firm is able to operate with significantly lower overhead than firms headquartered in other metropolitan areas.  Our business model is centered around efficiency and accuracy, and we are committed to passing on our savings to our clients.  Scott pays particular attention to a client’s intellectual property needs, and works to custom tailor intellectual property portfolios and strategies based on those needs.  His no nonsense approach to business and ability to adapt to changing times offers clients a new and better way to protect and grow their businesses.   He holds himself to the highest ethical and professional standards.  His clients can expect honest opinions and advice from him, and he goes the extra mile to insure his work is delivered to the client on a timely and as promised basis.

Scott graduated magna cum laude from the University of New Mexico with a double major in chemistry and history.  He earned his law degree from Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in New York.  He is admitted to practice cases before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is an attorney in good standing in the states of Nevada and New York.  He is able to represent clients in all 50 states in matters pertaining to federal patents, trademarks and copyrights.  He has been practicing since 2013, and has prepared and filed numerous patent applications.

Though he has a strong background in chemistry and physics, Scott found his calling in patent law through reading the collective works of Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and James Madison.  He does his best to live up to the founders’ ideals so as “to promote the progress of science and the useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries.”  To Scott, working to advance and defend a system that has secured America’s place as the undisputed leader in economic growth and innovation among the nations of the world is more than a means to earn a living.  The patent system is the product of over two hundred years of genius, inspiration, hard work and perseverance; and Scott considers being a part of this system as an honor and privilege.

Scott relocated to Las Vegas in 2012, and considers it to be among the best places in the United States to live and do business.  After gaining three years of solid experience under his belt, Scott wanted to launch his own practice.  He strives to maintain a near perfect balance of work, outdoor recreation, learning and family.  He spends a majority of his quality time with his wife, and they enjoy fine dining, movies, home improvement and travelling when they have time.
